March 2009

This March the boys and I spent a weekend at a nearby waterpark.  For Hans' Spring Break, he and I went to see cousins Pete and Anne in Boulder, CO.
What you can't see in the "lost tooth" picture is how many teeth are missing!
Although I don't have any pictures commorating the day, March 31st was the 1 year anniversary of Moses' homecoming!  Hard to believe.

Feb 2009

We told Mo one day that he better pack his bag if doesn't like our rules. He had his Lincoln Logs, fruit snacks, hat and shoes before he wanted out the door. He looks really concerned....

Hans 7th b'day party was finally held 1/31/09. (His b'day was 12/22.) Mo was a little overwhelmed, but Hans was thrilled. He invited boys from his class. Grandma O. made the cake.

We were at Chuck E. Cheese. Somehow this has become Hans' favorite place...

Our first vacation without kids in 8 years. (Hans is 7 yr old.) We went to Aruba for a conference. Jamie was able to go deep sea fishing and we went snorkeling.

We have had a busy January! After my b'day party, we celebrated Christmas with cousins Pete & Anne from Boulder, CO. The boys never mind gifts whenever they occur!

Then we had Han's first Pinewood Derby with Cub Scouts. Hans finished 4th overall! This was a great accomplishment because he was the only Tiger Cub, the first level, that made it into the finals; usually these little guys don't place at all. We were very proud of him! He constructed most of the car himself. In fact, Jamie was unhappy with how Hans' wanted to do it, but it worked! Unfortunately for Hans, fourth place doesn't receive a trophy. You can see his obvious disappointment in one of the photos. His inspiration for this Target race car.

It’s time for the bi-annual Olesen-Bunn holiday newsletter 2008/09 edition. We’re switching to an electronic version for ecologic and economic reasons, plus it’s just really convenient.

As most of you know, a year ago December we were devastated by our inability to bring home our to-be-adopted son, Moses, from Ghana, West Africa. A return trip in March was successful. Moses has now been with our family for 9 months. We celebrated his 2nd birthday in June. He is growing quickly, and has no developmental delays. In fact, he is quite agile and quick to learn.
Hans is now 7 years old. He initially had a tough adjustment to having a little brother, but now embraces his role of older sibling. Hans still enjoys video games, but is also interested in art and music. He has joined the Cub Scouts and is looking forward to the Pinewood Derby this month.
Jamie built and moved into a new vet clinic in Nov 2006. He still avidly plays golf and hunts. He will soon start training our new German wire-haired pointer, Winchester. Win had a tough start after we brought him home; he had two abdominal surgeries in a week and two hospitalizations at a specialty clinic.

My practice and teaching remains the same. I spend my days off with the boys and their increasing number of activities. We especially enjoy going to the pool in the summertime. We wish you much happiness and fulfillment in the coming year (or two).
The attached pictures are of our family in late December including the three dogs. If you know of someone we’ve missed with our mailing, please feel free to forward this.
